During my recent visit, I was captivated by the club’s stunning setting, impeccable course conditions, and the overall sense of tranquillity it exuded.
As I approached the Remuera Golf Club, I was immediately struck by the lush greenery that enveloped the entire course. The meticulously manicured fairways, complemented by native flora and stunning views, created a mesmerizing backdrop. There are several holes being upgraded, updated, and rebuilt, so you can expect an even better playing experience when you play there over the next few months. The new 9th hole par 4 looks like it will be a particularly fun way to finish the front 9.
The Remuera Golf Club boasts an 18-hole, par 72 course (par 71 currently with the two temporary holes during the 9th’s rebuild) that seamlessly weaves through the undulating terrain. Designed with careful consideration for the natural landscape, the course presents a fair challenge to golfers of all levels. Each hole offers its own unique character, requiring strategic shot placement and thoughtful club selection. The impeccable course conditions, including well-maintained greens and tidy fairways, contributed to the overall enjoyment of the game. The greens run as true and pure as any I have played on in Auckland.
The 7th hole is currently playing as 7A and 7B (a short par 4 and a short uphill par 3), but when they open the 9th hole for play and restore the 7th back to the 390m+ par 4 stroke one, it will be the standout hole on the front 9. It is long, with danger left and right, with an uphill approach to a well-protected green. The entire course is filled with an incredible variety of holes, so picking one standout is tough, but on the front, the 7th is particularly special.
The 16th hole, par 5, which doglegs left to right is the marquee hole on the back 9. A daunting narrow tee shot has tree trouble left and right, but it is the out-of-bounds right of the fairway that fills you with the most fear. Even a fairway drive will leave you a massive carry over deep swale in the fairway short of the green if you would like to take it on in 2. It is a fantastic hole with awesome views.
The staff at Remuera Golf Club were warm, welcoming, and dedicated to providing exceptional service. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with genuine smiles and given helpful advice on navigating the club’s amenities. The well-appointed clubhouse offers a range of facilities, including locker rooms, a pro shop, and a cosy restaurant and bar. After my round, I had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious meal while soaking in the panoramic views of the course.
