Regarded as the hub of the province, central Gauteng has Africa’s richest city Johannesburg as well as the richest square mile in Africa, Sandton. Some of the leading courses in this area include the Country Club of Johannesburg (Woodmead and Rocklands Courses), Parkview, Houghton, Wanderers, Randpark (Firethorn and Bushwillow) and the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club (East and West Course), which plays host to the European Tour’s Joburg Open annually in February.

The majority of courses in the province are parkland style courses, but one is able to find a variety of courses that range from links to estate golf. The Western side of Gauteng has a few top ranked estates, while central Gauteng caters more to the parklands style layout due to the age of the courses and the lack of space.
