I recently had the pleasure of playing Clark’s Beach Golf Club, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Nestled along the picturesque coastline to the Southwest of Auckland, this golf club offers a stunning setting for golf enthusiasts.

The natural beauty surrounding Clark’s Beach Golf Club is simply breath-taking. The course is meticulously designed to showcase the coastal landscape, with rolling hills, lush green fairways, and stunning ocean views. Playing a round of golf here feels like a harmonious blend of sport and nature. The course is designed into a narrow peninsula, meaning you are surrounded by ocean on all sides.

The golf course at Clark’s Beach is meticulously maintained, ensuring a top-notch playing experience. The fairways are well-groomed, the greens are pristine and run true, and the bunkers, while not perfect, are playable and in decent enough condition for the time of year and despite the fact that there has been much heavier than usual rainfall. The attention to detail and commitment to course upkeep are evident, making every hole a pleasure to play. Drainage is an obvious problem at Clark’s Beach, but the groundskeeper does a decent job at directing the flow of golfers away from the badly effected parts of the course, keeping the course in great condition for the steady stream of golfers who play there.

The course at Clark’s Beach Golf Club offers a fair but challenging layout that will test players of all skill levels. From the strategic placement of hazards to the well-designed doglegs, the course demands thoughtful shot selection and precision. Golfers can expect an engaging and rewarding round that will keep them on their toes. You can expect to use your entire bag when playing at Clark’s Beach, especially if the wind blows. We played the course on a cool autumn day, with a gentle breeze and little to no rain. The conditions underfoot were soft, so the course played longer than usual, but it was still a very manageable length, even for the shorter hitters out there.

If I had one minor criticism of the club it would be the sub-par facilities and amenities. The Clubhouse is dated, the bathrooms were clean, but far from inviting and the pro shop had a limited selection of the essentials but was far from being well stocked. The bar did serve ice cold beers and fantastically delicious food, but on the whole, it isn’t worth visiting the club for anything other than the course.

The course is full of fabulous holes, so picking some featured ones is very difficult. However, the Par 4 7th hole and the 3 9th hole were the best two on the front 9 and the par 3 12th hole and par 5 18th holes were the stand out holes on the back 9.
