Our leaderboard is loosely based on a format similar to the FedEx Cup. The system for the 2015 leaderboard rewards consistency, appearances and is also totaled in dollars (albeit imaginary ones). Unlike 2013 and 2014, the 2015 leaderboard will not give players their average score if they miss more than two rounds, to prevent non-players from rising the SOS leaderboard ranks. The same averaging system used over the last two seasons will still apply, but will be removed should a player miss more than the mandatory rounds.
A player missing a round will receive 65% of their average earnings, provided that 65% is higher than the money for last. How the average score is worked out is simple: The player gets $55,000 (total for last place) for the missed round. The total of all their previous rounds is added together with the $55,000 and then averaged. That average is then multiplied by 65%.
If 65% of their average is lower than the money for last, they receive $55,000.
Earnings on SOS is loaded for Majors and there are bonus dollars on offer for longest drive and closest to the pin ($5,000 each). There are other ways to earn bonus points through various competitions during the year.
There are no count-outs on SOS, except for 1st and last. Otherwise the points are shared.
