Eastern Cape Golf Courses
The coastal provinces of South Africa are all blessed with a plethora of beautiful golf courses. The lush Knysna Forests, the rolling mountains and mild climate make the Eastern Cape a hot destination for for tourism. The province itself is rather poor as it was home to many black South Africans during apartheid, but over the last few years major development has taken place in the Eastern Cape and the cities of Port Elizabeth and East London are increasingly experiencing an influx of local and international investment.
Golf in the Eastern Cape is also on the rise, and since the 2009 Africa Open Championship, this European Tour event has been hosted at the East London Golf Club. Eastern Cape Golf is growing every year and revenue being invested in development golf in the region is impressive.
Some of the famous courses in the area include the above mentioned East London Golf Club, the Gary Player designed Fish River Sun, the Royal Port Alfred Golf Club, Humewood Golf Club and St. Francis Links.
The Eastern Cape is a stone’s throw from the golfing mecca of the Southern Cape and Knysna and is no more than a short flight from Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban. The province is blessed with friendly people, great weather and great golf. There are beautiful beaches, unique game/wildlife environments and even the odd adventure activity to participate in.
